For the next 10 months I will be living and working as a teaching assistant in Madrid, also known as an auxiliar de conversación! Being an assistant/aux involves working with students to help them improve their English and learn more about American culture. As a language assistant you can be placed with students from ages 5–16-year-old, but I will be working with students in the 12- to 16-year-old range. This program serves as an incredible opportunity to not only positively impact the lives of young students but also to improve your Spanish fluency. While living in Spain, I’ll also be participating in language exchange programs with native Spanish-speakers and community service to get more opportunities to practice my Spanish. I highly recommend this program to anyone who’s looking for an adventure and is interested in experiencing Spanish cultural immersion.
